I completed ETL 401 with a broader sense of the role of the T/L. One aspect that has played on my mind is the need to be a "leader" in the school community and to foster collaboration between library and other school staff. Having read over the subject outline and the assignments for ETL 504,I am pleased to see that the content was designed to provide us with the professional knowledge we need to put these ideals into practise. I am eager to learn more about strategies and processes that can be used to achieve these great expectations.
I feel challenged by the requirement to use new digital technologies such as wiki's and skype and to have to write an article collaboratively for a professional journal.I am nervous and apprehensive that my relatively poor experince with these newer technologies may hinder the progress of my group. At the same time,I am glad
that these assignments will give me the opportunity to improve my ability to use ICT, to communicate more readily with colleagues and to build a professional network with other DE students and T/Ls.

I am reading your blog Jenni, in the hope that it will help me see where we are all up to and maybe an idea for the Journal article will jump out at me. I see you have worked in Primary and secondary schools. From my experience in primary school but visiting and seeing TLs in secondary schools, I think there is a VERY big difference in the way Secondary tls work, even though the philosophies and goals are the same. I am hoping that our collaborative assignment will be from a Primary Tls perspective, I THINK we are all working in that field. do you agree?
ReplyDeleteDon't feel at all that you have less experience and knowledge of emerging technologies, I too am in that boat. I am sure we will all learn together and there will be no expert among us who we think is going to be tearing their hair out in frustration!!
I notice you use OZ TLnet. I know that was recommended last semester but as I have been on the NSW TL listserve for years I have stuck with that, and that is enough emails to sift thru every day without adding another list serve. So maybe with both resources available to our group, if we need expert info, one of the list serves may know the answer.
